Earlier today, I saw an episode of "FOUR STAR PLAYHOUSE" (****) on RetroTV with Ida Lupino. In this particular episode, we see Fading Fast's picture of Ida make a cameo. The picture was signed, and in a frame sitting on a desk. The picture must have been a publicity photo taken around the same time (mid-1950s) of this TV series.

That one picture of Ida that helped answer my original question is definitely from "THE BIG KNIFE" with Jack Palance. I see it one TCM's "NOIR ALLEY" tonight, and Ida's wearing the same white top and the same metal disc bracelet as in that picture. As mentioned before, I've seen an episode of "FOUR STAR PLAYHOUSE" with Ida Lupino that had the same picture on display in one scene. Although I do think Ida looks pretty in this movie, likewise other films around this time such as "WHILE THE CITY SLEEPS", I still take a liking to her image during her years at Warner Bros. in the 1940s. Sure she was really skinny back then, but I tend to think she looked awfully cute with that poodle-like hair style. Her typical wide-eyed expression, which made her look rather curious, yet mysterious, was another common physical attribute of hers in these noir films. The best expression of Ida's is in this picture which I'd love nothing more than to present yet again, by popular request of my own -  - In a very kind and unusual way, she looks like a really pretty puppet and/or cartoon character come to life. |
