"This neckline's a morale builder. After all, I will spending New Year's eve with a lieutenant."
Pass me the smelling salts again. Shirley!!! She's a character in this film.

The dress pricing machinations are fun. It's a good scene. Yes, clever scene. Well played by Ginger and Spring.

John Derek's real name was Derek Harris. He was billed in this film as Dare Harris.
This was his first credited role, playing Shirley's date.

I love how Temple's lieutenant (Derek) turned the table on Temple, who was being bratty, and said he should be saluting Cotton. What a cool move.

The dress pricing machinations are fun. It's a good scene. I would like to know those prices in today's terms. Seems really expensive.

No money problems in that house. If they spent less on dresses they could have an extra bedroom or two so no double bunking. Good point. Another thing that bothers me about that bunking is that there should be at least three bedrooms upstairs based on the size of the downstairs. But they needed the bunking for the story.

I loved his speech about, "What a soldier thinks."
That dog! These days his part would have been played by a pit bull.

Maybe there is another bedroom that was converted into a sewing room or something for Sarah.

It's interesting how Zach talks himself through a panic attack.
Realistic dialogue, great acting by Cotten.

That dog! These days his part would have been played by a pit bull. Great catch. Back then, "German Shepherds" were the "bad" dogs for obvious reasons. Even growing up in the 1970s, German Shepherds still had that reputation. I've known several very nice ones.
