Off and on I've been watching the DICK VAN DYKE SHOW. In one episode Rob Petrie says he is left handed, but some episodes he took notes right handed. In an episode he is writing a book, he put on toy gun belt and drew the gun left handed. Is Van Dyke ambidextrous?

Just watched 2 more episodes. Van Dyke takes an art class and again says he's left handed. The following episode he seems right oriented, for instance using a key with the right hand.

I have read that Dick Van Dyke is left handed, but that Robert Petrie does perform some tasks right handed. I can understand why some things that we think of as revealing handedness might actually be less telling than we expect, but certain other things really stand out to me. For example, when Rob is throwing darts in the office he uses his left hand. If you've ever tried to throw darts with your nondominant hand, you'd definitely see this as a sign of his left handedness.
